"Many of my friends ask me where I work and what my company Colayer actually does? - I used to start talking about things like web communication, collaboration contextualization, community, the interactive web ... until they were so confused and walked away ..." So, I told them to go to colayer.com and just try it out! - But there too, they simply didn’t understand anything. Many of them say: "hey sujit come on it’s very difficult to understand"... How can it be so difficult to understand? Just go there, click anywhere, and type - or do anything ... But of course then, I remembered, when I was sitting on a computer and used Microsoft Word for the first time: And how confused I was that time! - Or even when I joined Colayer, got access to our "interactive" Intranet, and I didn’t get a thing at first So then:
Here a step-by-step intro, how to try out Colayer for my friends ... and other interested people too, of course!
1) Open a web browser and go to colayer.com
2) you see there a text area. Write something in there and hit enter, or click on submit. - for example: "Hi, I am just trying Colayer ..."
3) If the reception is open, there will be a message of me or one of my colleges -
4) then CLICK ON THE TEXT OF ANY MESSAGE! - You will soon see a green bar appearing right below this text: once you see this green bar, START TYPING
5) you will see the letters you type in the green bar, and not in the textbox anymore! - So, type something like: "I am a friend of Sujit, going through his blog ..." THEN hit enter - all this, without the mouse!
6) After enter, your message will appear on the page, right where the green bar was!
7) Try a few more times, write a few more things - and always click on the text, to which you would like to write something!
8)... Now, you already learned 2 key element of Colayer: a) The SHUTTLE is the green bar - it is what we use to interact - b) CONTEXT: is the idea, that you can do anything anywhere - so, instead of a normal chat, which is linear (and quite annoying if you have a lot of people) - there can be multiple discussions at the same time.
Now you will say: "Oh so, this is just a contextualized chat?" Well, that was just the start! The shuttle can be used for anything:
9) Click somewhere - but instead of typing immediately, you click again on one of the words in the shuttle: Say Ask etc - so, click on ask. You will see a FORM opening. Type for e.g.: "What else can I do here?" & submit the form. Now you can see a massage written on the page with an ‘Icon Ask’. So, everyone else here can see that this is a question
10) With the "+" on the right side of green bar, you will see more links on mouse over: You can upload images, files, post a todo, create a video, or even send SMS, emails etc: All you need for work ... don’t feel shy, keep on trying out, that’s what the reception is also made for " So, you see: Colayer is not only used for real time, but also for all online work -
